This was the view outside our hostel window when we woke up this morning! So happy to know that we were going to have spectacular views of Mont Blanc all day!
We got on the trail by 8 am.
Within an hour, we were shedding layers and applying more sun screen.
Once our trail was up higher, we were in the sun for the rest of the day.
We did a steady challenging climb up all morning and afternoon. We found a great place to stop and eat lunch with a wonderful view of Momt Blanc.
After lunch, we hiked up to Col Brevant. We continued on for a ways, but ultimately turned around and went back the same way we had come due to a chair lift, that we had planned on taking down to avoid a 3000+ feet descent, being closed. We are definitely at the tail end of the season and we are starting to run into some closures.
Once we got down, we enjoyed a cold drink before heading all the way down to Chamonix.
We made a quick stop at a super marche (grocery store) to pick up some more items for our lunches. We then took the bus to Les Hoches and checked into Le Saint Antoine Inn. Our delightful host, Corene, remembered Greg and I from last year and gave us three rooms that overlooked Mount Blanc.
After showering and washing out some clothes, we had a wonderful dinner outside. It’s been a good second day and everyone is still happy 😀 to be doing this trip.
