Here is a map of the Tour du Mont Blanc route. The Tour du Mont Blanc is one of the most popular long-distance hikes in Europe covering approximately 110 miles around Mont Blanc through parts of France, Italy, and Switzerland.
What we have learned, “the hard way,” 😀 is that it is really important to pack light! So we essentially wear one set of clothes and carry another (with some extras like rain gear, small down jacket, hat and gloves). Because we stay in either mountain huts (like hostels) or little inns along the way, we don’t end sleeping bags, cooking gear, etc. We just carry a daily lunch. Greg’s pack weighed in at 23.5 lbs and mine is 18 lbs (both without water).
We are anticipating cooler weather and planning for rain 😕 but are hoping we’ll still get some good views along the way. We are flying Icelandair to Geneva. We will then travel to Argentiere and will start our actual hike on Monday, September 10.
