Several of us had “internal clocks” that hadn’t gotten the message we were in a new time zone resulting in lots of “reading and reflection” during the wee hours of the night. However, when we eventually woke up to a somewhat unexpected glorious day, we were immediately revived, and ready to take the bus into Chamonix for the day.
Our first stop was for breakfast that we ate outside while watching all the people enjoy the morning. Chanda’s bag pretty much sums it up - Life is Good! After breakfast, we wandered around Chamonix looking in stores, people watching, and eventually stopping to taste some local brews.
Chanda had recommended a hike she had taken before called the Chemin de la Floria - she promised beautiful views, flowers, and refreshments at the top! The hike was a perfect warm-up to our more serious start tomorrow. We enjoyed hiking without our packs and the views from the top.
After we hiked back down to Chamonix, we spent time buying lunch stuff for the next two days. We then took the bus back to Argentiere, had dinner, and are now busy packing our packs for our 7:30 am departure.
Post Script
One thing for sure, today we met one of the youngest Tour du Mont Blanc “hikers” we’ve ever seen! On our bus trip into Chamonix, we met 3-month old Finn, who with his parents, had completed 10 out 11 stages of the hike while camping along the way👍 We were duly impressed!!
Glad you all arrived safe and sound.good luck on your first day.
